Nappier Police Stop: NAACP, State Senator Meet With Police Chief - Courant.com: "Representatives of both the state and Hartford chapters of the NAACP and Sen. Eric Coleman, D-Hartford, met with Hartford police Chief Daryl K. Roberts Friday afternoon about the Sept. 1 police stop of State Treasurer Denise Nappier.
Coleman, Scot X. Esdaile, president of the Connecticut State Conference of NAACP Branches, and Muhammad Ansari, president of the Greater Hartford branch of the NAACP, met with Roberts for nearly an hour at Hartford police headquarters.
Nappier, who is African American, was stopped by city police, who found discrepancies with the registration of her state-issued car. They charged her with motor vehicle violations and impounded her car. Nappier said she then walked 3 miles to
