"Windsor Locks Memory Test"
You don't have to answer the questions. Its just to make you think... Memory test.. How many people knew there was a Bidwell's Brick Yard in Windsor Locks on North St. across from Logan's Appliance Store. I don't remember Mr. Bidwell's first name.. Yes, there was an Appliance store.. Later Frank Logan moved his store. Do you know where? I do.. Richard and his brother Robert Tambussi were the lumber yard Kings. What was their Father's Name? His first name was, you guess and yes I knew him well..I worked at the Lumber yard for 3 years... How about that Paul Bunyan statue in front of the lumber Yard? What happened to that? Was Bidwell a King also? Where was Bidwell's lumber yard? At the bottom of what one way street? I think "at that point in time" there was only one.. Always wanted to say that...
Where was the original Terminal at Bradley, the one the Army Air Force built? Yes, there was an Army Air Force. Did you know there was a grass swimming pool at bottom end of Whiten St. Before the cement one on top of the hill. I remember when they built that one.. Was really a big deal then..
Behind the Italian Progressive club on Suffield St. there was huge water tank on stilts (the only way to describe it) My Dad said when he was a kid he climbed it and wrapped (his words) his legs around the ball on top.. What a way to set an example. I thought about it but never did it.. I put (with help of coarse) the three lights on top of the mountain in East Granby.. They were longer than usual telephone poles with lights on top.. I maintained those lights and all the beacons and towers at all the State owned airports climbing the towers and poles for maintenance and changing the lamps. I guess climbing towers and poles runs in the family..
There was also a USO on Spring St. Do you know where that was? Do you know what USO means? Did you know there was WAC's (Woman's Army Corp) barracks in Windsor Locks? Yes there was.. I started working at Bradley when the Control Tower was, do you know where? I do..
P.S. The picture is of the Trolley Car Trestle and when we were kids walked out to the end of it where it was broken.. Do you know who owned the property that bordered the trestle? I do...

"We All Know What Is wrong"
Surprise! Here I am again. I know
my appearances here ( My Live Journal web page) are far and in-between but I have been very busy of
late..The computer issues for one..This thing works great now. Better
than new. I'm deleting things as I see them. Very rarely do I save
anything. Download time for a 45 minute TV show is 7 minutes...It even
streams now, almost no reason to download anything. Still not watching
TV. The music continues. Yes, I know it does get a little boring but
then I put on the weather with music and no ads. The result is, my
thinking process is much better now. I will not poison my mind with the
insanity out there. I now get all my news from the internet. My choice
of updates, in my time, when I want them with no ads or commercials. My
old home town of Windsor Locks Connecticut is now suffering from the
insanity of our TV and U Tube society. The kids are doing things that
are putting the damper on their future with their behavior in schools
and using drugs. It must be bad because the teachers are begging for
help on their homepage and in the local paper. We all know what's wrong,
don't we? My blog is doing very well as of late and I'm proud of that.
I'm starting to feel responsible and need to post twice a day. I have
18,199 pages views. I think I have found my nitch in life.
The only sad news is that a friend that I've had for years unfriended
me on Live Journal. I sent her a note asking why? Still no answer. She
kept me as a friend on Facebook and deleted me here? Go figure..I don't
know...I still love her..Shes a great kid and a great writer. She has a
bright future ahead of her...Good luck Erin, go in peace....

"A Message to Windsor Locks Parents"
Save Windsor Locks: A Message to Windsor Locks Parents...
The staff members of Windsor Locks Public Schools have recently become aware of an alarming new trend of potentially dangerous behavior among our youth. We are reaching out to parents in the hopes that we can come together as a community to address this situation before any of our children are seriously or permanently injured.
Three specific new trends (promoted on the internet through popular web sites) have created alarm and concern among our staff. The first is the “cinnamon challenge” in which people try to swallow a spoonful of ground cinnamon without drinking water. The results are both predictable and dangerous. The cinnamon becomes stuck in the throat triggering the gag reflex and causing most people to gasp and inhale cinnamon directly into their lungs. Though no deaths have been reported to date as a result of the cinnamon challenge, the health risks are significant and real. According to the Vice Chairman of Pediatrics at Winthrop University Hospital (Long Island, New York), the effects of inhaling cinnamon include dangerous spikes in blood sugar levels, burns to the throat and lung tissue, and long-term lung damage including scarring. For children with asthma the effects are more dangerous because they have the potential to trigger an asthma attack or pneumonia.
The second dangerous trend is called “The Salt and Ice Challenge”. Students put salt on their skin then press ice into it until it melts or becomes too painful to stand. According to national news sources, the challenge can result in first degree burns, second degree burns, and even severe frost bite depending on how long the student plays the game.
The third is synthetic marijuana, better known as K-2 or Spice. Experts agree that use of this substance (banned in many states already) poses serious health risks.
Comment...As I have said all along, this trend of instant gratification and the willingness to do anything here in the United States has now hit my home town of Windsor Locks Connecticut. How many kids will hurt themselves or become a victim of what I call the U tube generation? The suicide rate among teenagers increases every day. Now in this country its OK to disrespect parents and teachers. I have no solutions and I won't blame anyone. I won't say it was better in my day. However, I do know that kids learn by example. They will do what their parents do. They learn by what they see on TV and in the movies. The news is another big influence on a young mind. The cell phone or as I call it, the hand held computer is a huge problem. There is simply too much information. Now, the warning signs are all over the place. Point the kids in the right direction and teach them them the do's and don'ts. Don't be afraid to set limits its really dangerous out there..
