Bail Granted For Christian Pakistani Girl Accused Of Blasphemy Against Islam : The Two-Way : NPR

 The young Pakistani girl who has been in custody for about two weeks after neighbors accused her of burning some Islamic religious materials has been granted bail by a judge in Islamabad.
But NPR's Jackie Northam reports that the bail set today — the equivalent of about $10,000 — is an "enormous sum here in Pakistan." So it's uncertain whether Rimsha Masih will be out of jail anytime soon.

Rimsha has what some news outlets have described as Down Syndrome while others refer to her as "mentally impared." Her age has been reported as being as young as 11 and as old as 16. In court today, Jackie reports, she was referred to several times as being 14. It's not clear that she knew what she allegedly burned — or even that she did what she's accused of. There have been reports that the accusations may have been motivated by some neighbors' desire to push a small community of Christians out of an Islamabad slum. Protests in the slum following the accusations against Rimsha led the Christians to go into hiding.

 Comment... This is the country we send aid, American tax dollars and American troops. The same country that hid the murderer Osama bin Laden. He killed 3000 Americans in the World Trade Center. The same country that is famous for massive corruption. Stop all aid now! If we continue to send aid to these "Barbarians" the United States is partly responsible for what happens this little girl.

​​The commander of U.S. and NATO forces in Afghanistan has accused the Taliban's reclusive leader of issuing a "message of hate and hopelessness" to mark the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Fitr. General John Allen said Friday Mullah Omar's message focused on insurgent operations, revenge, death and lies. Allen said the faithful expect a message of congratulations at the end of Ramadan. The NATO commander said just recently, during attacks in Nimroz and Kunduz, Mullah Omar sent "assassins" to kill dozens of innocent Afghan men, women and children. Omar is reported to live in Pakistan. 

In his statement, the Taliban leader accused American forces of killing innocent civilians and desecrating their corpses. He urged Afghans to join the Taliban and told his fighter to "be careful about civilian losses." Omar also boasted that his fighters have successfully infiltrated Afghan security forces to mount rogue shootings of foreign troops.

The report also shows that the U.S. gave Pakistan $1.3 billion in 2003 and 2004 to help cancel an earlier $1.5 billion debt Pakistan owed U.S. taxpayers. The U.S. gave $4.46 billion to Pakistan in fiscal 2010. The Administration purportedly wants to lift Pakistan’s 2012 total aid to $3.4 billion from the $2.96 billion CRS says has been requested for 2012"

The weather here yesterday was chilly, damp, rainy and unpredictable just like our Government. Our Governor is going around the State trying to convince people that his budget plan is the right way to go. He wants to raise taxes and cut programs…On the Federal side, the U.S. government will shut down on March 4th. Stay tuned for that. That means all federal employees except The President the Senators and Congress will be furloughed. It looks like they will have to get their own coffee in the morning. The Obama administration will somehow pay 35 Billion tax, or newly printed dollars ($35,000,000,000.00) to Boeing Aircraft. To me that’s astounding. They are going to built new refueling tanker planes. They are like new 707’s. Neat huh…Can you imagine the debt he will leave when he’s gone? And oh yes he will be gone. That’s like you and your wife just got laid off and you are behind on your car and house payments but you go out and charge on your charge card a house full of new furniture. Yes, its good for the workers but bad for the taxpayers. Its insane isn’t it? ….Someone on CNN yesterday said that Osama Ben Laden and Al Qaeda is responsible for the all the craziness in the Middle East. I said that 2 weeks ago...Why is everyone afraid to say that? Its got his finger prints all over it. Its about time these people catch up with reality….While all this is going on. Pakistan has a CIA agent in prison. From what I understand he shot and killed 2 guys who were trying to rob him. Good for him on that. Our Government said to release him because he has diplomatic immunity. They won’t…How much aid would I stop sending to that country? All of it, that’s how much. Its time to send in Black ops and get him out of jail...Just like in Robert Redford’s Movie “Spy Game” I seen a sign for gas yesterday. $ 3.55.9 cents a gallon…..OMG I’m going out of my mind…
