"Line From the Movie "Fight Club"

FIGHT CLUB [1999] Image
From the movie "Fight Club" 1999

"Man, I see in fight club the strongest and smartest men who've ever lived. I see all this potential, and I see squandering. God damn it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables . . . slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don't need. We're the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War's a spiritual war . . . our Great Depression is our lives. We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires and movie gods and rock stars. But we won't. And we're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed off"

Comment....Line from the movie "Fight Club" with Brad Pitt and Edward Norton. I don't have to say anymore. This says it all.

That comment is from a movie producer/writer who's pursuing fame and fortune and probably has nothing in common with me and not a clue about my life and how I live it. No clues about my hopes, my dreams, my soul.
I'm not a slave to advertising, even if he is. And I'm not someone to either be pitied or rescued.

You are so right and I agree...I stopped watching Television a long time ago when I noticed they were saying the same thing over and over. When I realized what they were doing I thought "How dare you tell me what I want and when I need it. Now I pick up on the expression on a young persons face who is working as a cashier or in a fast food restaurant. I sometime ask "Do you think you can do this for the next 30 years or until you retire? They all answer with a frown and a firm "NO".. The point I'm trying to make here is that this movie was 13 years ago and In my humble opinion its getting worse every day. I started writing about all the brain numbing commercials a long time ago. I think the older and wiser I get, its a built in self-preservation device....Thank you for your feedback and I really mean that..

I Love Fight Club! haha... There is some truth to what he said. For some, life swallows them up while they W A I T ...for something to happen F O R them...Others, jump in there and go for it! Depends on the person, the way they were raised, and their financial backing. I miss *MASH*, All in the Family, The Nightstalker, Columbo, The Waltons, Little House on the Prarie, and Donny and Marie..LOL...That is my time, and don't feel sorry for anyone that has opportunities to better themselves :) Have a Great Day L.J... Great one :)

Teresa...I think I am in love with you...You make my day and you are one of those that know Tyler Durden was non-existent or as I like to say, invisible.
