Are U.S. and Iran Veering Toward War? | PBS NewsHour | Jan. 18, 2012 | PBS:

"VALI NASR, former State Department official: I think we are in a place where we haven't been with Iran before.
We are in a situation that the two countries have no relations with one another. There's no hot line between them. There is a great deal of pressure on Iran. And the Iranians for the first time have begun to react to this pressure by threatening either closing the Straits of Hormuz, putting economic pressure on the West, or as they did in response to the killing of a scientist in Iran, that they may retaliate even outside of the Middle East."

Comment......I only know from past experience what is happening now has not happened before...Not as bad, that is...There have always been threats but cutting off oil to countries is like the worst thing they could do...Even worse than taking hostages. We have been letting them do that for years and paying ransoms and forgetting about it.... Sort of...Who knows now what might happen? I hear talk of $5.00 a gallon for gas and with our economy the way it is now, I don't think we are going to let that happen...Iran is like a pesky sliver in a place where you can't get at it...Something has to be done but this is a major decision...I don't know where we can find someone to do that...
